Bibliomotion is positioned as a next-generation publisher in that we are traditional trade book publishers but always look for ways to partner with our authors “beyond the book.” Our publishing program has its roots in business books, though we are branching out into other general trade areas such as parenting, self-help, health, and pets. Our books are widely distributed to book trade accounts by Perseus Distribution, a top player in the field, and our e-books are available worldwide through INscribe Digital.

Our publishing model:

Bibliomotion does not offer advances against royalties, but rather offers graduated royalties, stressing the notion that success comes out of the partnership effort between author and publisher; it is a shared risk/shared reward model. Most authors, we find, would prefer that advance dollars be put directly into targeted marketing and publicity plans, which we work on with authors from day one.

We are a small, high-touch operation; every title we sign gets our full attention and our standard practice is to simultaneously publish a print book, e-book, enhanced e-book, and audio book for every project we take on. You will not get shunted along the publishing conveyer belt—from the acquiring editor, to the copy editor, to the marketing department but instead will have a clear point of contact throughout the process.

Our success is dependent on the author’s brand, and it is our job to help you build that brand. We do so by performing a brand audit and by coaching you through the entire publishing process. If you’re a first-time author, we explain each step carefully; if you’ve published before, we find out what worked for you and what did not to address your concerns and improve the experience.

Our top-notch social media strategist and traditional publicity team members—who have experience in creating New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers—will work with you on your promotion campaign. Author-driven marketing campaigns are also something we can coordinate for authors who wish to go above and beyond.

At Bibliomotion, we do not envision you selling single copies of your book at the back of a lecture hall. We do anticipate working with you to sell bulk copies (print and/or e-book) of the book as part of your speaking engagements and consulting work. We would also offer you the option to purchase unlimited copies for resale or personal use at a 50% discount.

We are not a self-publishing outfit:

Our content is highly curated as we get many submissions and carefully select our list. We are a one-stop shop and authors pay no up-front costs. We arrange for and pay for all phases of editorial, production, and manufacturing: copyediting, proofreading, composition, cover design, copyright, ISBN, e-book conversion, and printing. We coordinate and implement marketing and promotion plans to include social media as well as traditional publicity efforts. In addition, we coordinate and cover all costs involved in sales, distribution, and rights sales (for both print books and e-books). In all of this, we work extremely closely with the author, who is a member of the team every step of the way. Whereas in self-publishing an author pays all costs and retains all revenue, in our model we pay all the costs and authors share the revenue.
